The Secret to Completing a Woman’s Life: BABIES!

Started by menstrualpoetry · 10 ヶ月 ago

I saw a few posts on the movie Baby Mama when the movie was first out in theaters. I, however, being the kind of person who finds it much more enjoyable to watch movies at home mostly while I am working as I am a chronic multi-tasker, I waited and recently watched the [...] ... Continue reading »

  • Thanks for the review though I never planned on watching it in the first place. Looks like mindless trash to me, and I'm a fan of Super Troopers!

That's the beauty of actively avoiding the Mainstream...stuff like this rarely even crosses the radar and you're not bombarded with a constant stream of BS intended to define, promote, and commercialize what it means to be a woman.

Permanently Child-free and satisfied over here. :)
  • This isn't a traditional "chick flick" though, is it? I've heard from various people that it's pretty funny, and I know Tina Fey is hysterical in 30 Rock so I'll take the risk and watch it anyway.
  • I also liked Tina Fey in SNL
The premise of this movie, that having children makes you happy, is untrue.
Studies show that having children doesn't make you happier, but being in a stable long term relationship does.
  • I was really bummed when I saw the previews for this. I usually find Tina Fey really funny and lighthearted... this was just ... ugh. I was annoyed and I didn't even see the whole movie, just previews and clips LOL
  • "Must be how she got to be so successful and single!"

    LOL
  • What a great movie with lots of stereotypes. Can't wait to see it! *end sarcasm* I take it the producer was a man?
  • I didn't even think of this stuff when I watched it, but I guess you're right. Kinda ruins it for me though. :(
  • It is worthless movie because life of a women completes only when she fulfill all the role of a idol women, success in business is not everything in a life.[:)]
  • The essence of the woman is to bear a child! It's a different feeling to any person having a baby of their own. And yes, it makes life complete. You will become more responsible. Thanks for sharing about this movie. :)
  • I did watch the complete movie but all this what you wrote here...didn't come to my brain once.. lol

what u said seems to be true...but dosen't apply to me...i didn't see what u saw..
  • Baby Mama is a good comedy film but i think is a little bit lightweight and predictable comedy film.
  • Baby Mama is really funny movie.
  • I really appreciate where you're coming from on this movie. However, I got to say "lighten up!". Any woman that looks to "Baby Mama" for life advice has a problem. A bad comedy yes...a social commentary piece no!
  • Baby Mama is a such a nice film, in my view even a very sucessful business single woman is not a complete wheather if child is in her life it is complete life and a complete
    family.
  • You are so right! I didn't think the movie was all that great to be honest. Kind of dull and typical stereotypes of hollywood.
  • What, Hollywood taking the easy route and exploiting stereotypes? The enlightened people in Tinseltown wouldn't do that! :-)
  • I don't find this movie all that great...but it is niceto see one with a different angle.
  • absolutely loved finding your text. Good job - keep it up!
  • I just stumbled upon your site and think you've got some great topics for discussion. I just saw this movie and felt it was quite amusing and delightful. Thanks for taking the time to discuss the movie from a different side.
  • I didn't get to watch the movie but it looks funny so I might watch it sometime.

For some, having a baby will make their lives complete. It doesn't apply to some who doesn't want responsibilities.
  • Alot of women really do not want any children but is instead pressured into having children by their parents. It's really sad because those are the women who end up being "bad parents". I can't even imagine how many unplanned babies are born each year as a result of pressure and lack of protection.

  • I like the movie. Its damn funny. Kinda inspiring too.
  • I love Tina Fey... can't wait to see this one.
  • What? My comment was deleted?

Ok, then I'll try again with a softer tone: It holds no appeal for me.
  • Your previous comment wasn't deleted, I just started using Disqus for the commenting system and it was set to only showing a certain number of comments per page and when I went looking for your comment to make sure it wasn't deleted and if it was, to put it back in, I didn't even notice the 'show more comments' text on the bottom which is most likely what happened with you, too. I am going to change the comment settings to make sure all of the comments are on the same page so no one runs into this predicament. Thanks for bringing it to my attention, nonetheless and I always love your comments, so I hope you keep leaving them!
  • Confusion demystified!

    Thanks Holly! :)

  • You make me want to have a baby now. Seriously the thought of having a baby is scary. I am scared of pain.
