Menstrual Poetry: PETA Makes Light of Cannibalistic Attack

i'm disgusted but not surprised. as PETA has proven time and time again, they have absolutely no limit to how low they'll go to - they have no standards, no ethics, no taste, and no class. they show an overwhelming disrespect for their fellow humans, and in this case, for the murdered man's family. http://www.timmclean.org/ http://www.myspace.com/108390479 if i was Mr. McLean's family, i'd be suing like crazy. http://www.canada.com/windsorstar/news/story.ht...

I'm 100% for humane treatment of animals, and hell even for eating less meat as a society. But comparing animals being killed for food to another human being being attacked and murdered by an insane person... I just can't even understand that. Do they really not see that humans might be a step up the rung from chickens?

Most people don't deserve respect anyway, since they've done nothing to prove they deserve it.

I like animals, I just like to eat them more. Primal instincts cannot be ignored and suppressed.

You're right though, PETA is completely full of shit.

Wow, that's pretty tasteless. I can see what they were trying to do, but no. Just no. :/

Peta are hardly going to win any sympathy for the animals if they show complete disdain for humans.

I had no idea. What a truly horrible thing happened to this young man - his life should be given respect not used for an advertising agenda. I know this must have hurt his family.

Too bad animals can't talk or they'd probably turn down any assistance by PETA in the future.

I've been back and forth on the PETA thing, but a lot of their ads are pretty tasteless. Generally, I see nothing problematic with comparing the slaughter of animals to murder - because, ultimately, that's what it is - but this ad is totally unacceptable. Comparing it to the murder of Tim McLean shows a complete lack of respect towards his family and how they might feel about this ad. I certainly understand what they were trying to get across, as does everyone here, I think, but using a specific case like the murder of Tim is extremely reprehensible, IMO.

Hi, most often PETA looks stupid, but extreme opposites exists to balance each other and bring some sense in our existence. If PETA is there you can also see also find many people having exactly oppositive views....both of them balance each other and that is how we sane people can have some sanity preserved in this world.

I comment PETA for the guts and the honesty to call meat eating what it is: murder. Peta isn't "making light" of the murder of Tim McLean, rather Peta is compassionately empathising with murder victims, whatever their skin color, caste or species. "Ridiculously backwards" is how I would describe the way primitive cultures used women as slaves, wore the skin of enemies around their head, AND the people still treat animals as slaves. Being civilized means leaving behind the practices that are simply instinctive and based on primal instincs... that's why we wear clothes, eat on plates, give respect to women rather than rape them and trade them, etc. Since we don't need to eat animals to survive, and because it is cruel and as I'm sure all of you would agree, murder of a living being, then wouldn't it be more civilized (rather than backward) to become vegetarian and let animals live in peace?
