I'm not much of a fan of Tyra Banks. She's probably a great gal and all, but I don't guess I grasp her role and popularity as America's top advocate for female body acceptance. Maybe the bias comes from the fact that she's a super-model deemed far more attractive than the average woman, claiming authority as a spokeswoman for "fat acceptance" for an audience of fashion-praising, self-conscious women. The tears during just about every show of hers I've watched (which is very few) don't help.
But maybe I'm calloused and pop culture-ignorant. I'd be more inclined to sit through talk of body consciousness from celebrities like, say, Janet Jackson or Kirstie Alley who have actual experience being "fat." That is if I actually cared to hear the celebrity POV in the first place.
Ok, taking my cynical ass elsewhere now! :)
