I wonder who came with the "very smart" idea in the first place. Could it be some stupid pot smokers?:)) Let's hear what the marijuana leaves say:"YESSSSSSSS!!!!" Definitely agree with SNES that sex ed has to be more about teaching and less about scaring. Once they realize adults have just been scaring them, things could go for the worst.

Re: Bleach, Mountain Dew and Marijuana are Not Contraceptives

I remember something back in my teenage years ( haha only a few years ago) when nobody would drink Mountain Dew because it supposedly lowered your sperm count. Still ridiculous. Regarding marijuana anandamide the natural occuring endocannabinoid in your body has been linked to the communication between fetus and mother early in pregnancy. I still think we need more EDUCATION.!

Re: Bleach, Mountain Dew and Marijuana are Not Contraceptives

Marijuana is the one drug that you will hear more myths and untruths from both the for and against, more so than any other. Still I have never heard that it can stop you getting pregnant. It makes you wonder what’s wrong with not just our sex education but drugs education as well, if kids are believing that.

Re: Bleach, Mountain Dew and Marijuana are Not Contraceptives

This blog is really interesting, im sure that i will visit this freequently and you have funny jokes too !

Thanks !

Re: Bleach, Mountain Dew and Marijuana are Not Contraceptives

Marijuana will prevent Girls from getting pregnant when theyre too stoned to get down dirty =D
Just kidding, of course i agree with your opinion.

Re: Bleach, Mountain Dew and Marijuana are Not Contraceptives

I've raised a 20 year old girl and had a heck of a time competing with the media's thurst for pushing the envelope.
Now I've got 2year old triplet girls and I'm considering limiting media access much more.

All the media talks about is change is good. As a high school educator, I know that the problems are not going to go away. I mean, I am standing in front of my AP World History kids, the smart and good kids, and I hear the girl in the front whisper to her friend, "I'm not pregnant." And I am stunned. This girl is 15.

Instead of pretending sex doesn't exist or only teaching that abstaining from it is effective, we need to focus on giving our kids the right ideas and tools to handle these issues.

Re: Bleach, Mountain Dew and Marijuana are Not Contraceptives

HaHa!! I live in Orlando and I'd believe that kids are that stupid. I swear, Florida is one messed up place. If you stay on the coast it's ok though. My sister and I are from the coast and my cousins are in Orlando. Both of my cousins got pregnant at a very young age whereas I don't think I'll have a kid for another 5 years. XD

Anyway, I think that sex ed is INCREDIBLY important. Both of my parents are anatomy teachers and they taught me much more than was ever covered in sex ed. Unfortunately many girls and boys are misinformed or uneducated about this subject and are too lazy or ignorant to go out and find the information themselves. Almost everyone can access the internet and certainly everyone has access to a library. Or even Planned Parenthood, which there are 3 of in Orlando.

Re: Bleach, Mountain Dew and Marijuana are Not Contraceptives

This is a really interesting topic. It is true that with teaching abstinence-sex, some teens just had to try it for themselves and try stupid things to prevent getting diseases or getting pregnant.

Re: Bleach, Mountain Dew and Marijuana are Not Contraceptives

I agree with this entire post. Although they did make us watch one video about AIDS, where a kid in it asked at the end, "But what if we decide to have sex anyways?" and the video instructor replied, "Well, then I guess you'll just have to be prepared to die." Sex ed is too much about scaring kids away, and teaches nothing. The facts are that, if its going to happen, it will. We need to arm teenagers with the correct information, so they know how to make the right choice.

Re: Bleach, Mountain Dew and Marijuana are Not Contraceptives

Great blog.
